Is it possible?

(by
James Smith)

"The Lord delights in you!" Isaiah 62:4

Is it possible, that such poor, depraved, unworthy creatures--can be the objects of Jehovah's delight? Yes! The infinite love of God has been fixed upon us from eternity! Because He loved us, He sent His only-begotten Son to die for us! He sent His Holy Spirit into our hearts to regenerate us!

"You have loved them--AS You have loved Me!" John 17:23.
Yes, the Father has loved us--just as He has loved Jesus--with an infinite love!

Every believer, though . . .
  his faith is weak,
  his fears are many,
  his corruptions are strong,
  his troubles are great, and
  his temptations are sore--
is the object of Jehovah's delight!

Let us therefore endeavor to pass through this day, yes, and every day--believing and realizing:
"I am Jehovah's delight!
I am the object of His highest love!
I am the subject of His sweetest thoughts!
I am His portion for evermore!"

O incomparable privilege!

Wondrous source of comfort, holiness, and love!

You have more cause for gratitude than an angel!

I am sorry to have to bother subscribers with more information regarding infant baptism, but I have surprisingly been getting lots of negative feedback from my paedobaptist brethren--and it would be impossible for me to give adequate individual responses to every inquiry. Some of the feedback has been cordial, but much has been very unChristian--with all the name-calling, threats, etc.

As many have unjustly castigated him--let me add a note about James Smith, the author of yesterday's quote. Smith was a predecessor of Charles Spurgeon at New Park Street Chapel, London. Having read some three thousand pages of Smith's writings--this is the first time that he addressed the topic of baptism--and only in a short 2 page article. Smith was a most kind, warm-hearted, gentle and godly pastor. If you have read my many posts by him--you will find this to be an accurate assessment. Nevertheless, like his gentle Master ("You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?" Matthew 23:33), Smith sometimes speaks very strongly and pointedly on what he considers to be a dangerous error in the church. All faithful pastors will do the same thing--and for this they are to be commended!

Seeing that most of the responses accuse me of being ignorant, and not having any data to back up the quote--I suggest the following materials for your serious perusal.
